French TA28 owner (oenotlob)
French TA28 owner (oenotlob)
Hi guys,
I'm a French Celica 1st gen owner (so excuse my bad English ) since 3 years. I'm near my 30 years and I began my car's renovation 4 weeks ago.
I'm an active member of a french Celica community since same time.
My fuc@#' face:
My Toyota is a TA28 model ( like your RA29 but with the 2TB engine) of '76.
2TB is a 1600 cm3 engine that develope 86hp (only). I think it's a little bit just but you can also enjoy driving.
You can visit us here : http://www.celica.fr (sorry for the non-bilingual cause the site have no traduction).
I've discovered your community this night cause I'm searching for couple of fiber parts and I have read a famous topic where I saw the very good job of Foxau2.
In Europe it's difficult to find some fiberglass parts or it's very very very expensive.
I'm searching for a pair of fender, a rear 3 pieces spoiler and a front spoiler. This is for my own. I know too that some members of my community are searching for fenders and rear spoilers so if Foxau2 read me, you can PM me.
I'd like to post some pics but I don't understand how it works. So if someone could help me... I have a lot of pics to post, from the buying to today.
Thank you.

Welcome
The work is looking good Great job with the metalwork, I wish I was able to do that.
Keep it up.
For translations if needed use Google Translate, it works pretty good.

I'd like to excuse myself cause I think my picts are not in the right topic. I will correct it later: will put them into "car project".
Otherwise, I have a couple of "vintage" cars.
1: Ford Capri mk1 1971 (V6 2600cc 118hp)
2: Ford Vedette 1954 (V8 2200cc 60hp)
3: Ford Vedette 1950 (V8 2200cc pick-up 60hp)
4: Renault Fuego 1985 (1600cc Turbo 132hp)
5: Autobianchi A112 Abarth 1984 (1050cc 70hp)
6: Toyota Celica TA28 1976 (2TB engine :1600cc 83hp)
7: Toyota Celica TA22 197? (2TB engine :1600cc 83hp) Interceptor look
8: Toyota Celica Supra mk2 1985 (2800cc Injection 170hp)
9: Toyota Corona mk2 197? (18R engine :2000cc)
I will post some pics from these cars.

Yes, please post some pics of those other cars, as that is quite the collection.
I used to own a Ford Capri as well, Mk1 or 2 not sure which, but 1974 (V6 2800cc - ???hp Modded engine),
I had it just after my first Celica.

Re: French TA28 owner (oenotlob)
k, this is myself inboard y Celica :
I fell in love of 70 's at the beginning of 2000 when my eyes put down on Opel Manta (of course 1st Gen) which was in a junk-yard. I had to make deal but I found shady that " scrap merchant " had neither keys and no car's paper. So I had to make my investigation about the provenance of this car (it was a 1900cc "SR", white and a very little bit damaged) which drove me until a "stupid" heir who has wanted never neither to give me car's paper, nor to sell it to me. He had destroy it after my dial and ordered the scrap merchant to destroy the car too. So I didn't deal with him.
Instead found a Ford Escort near my home that I bought for nothing (I don't have it anymore cause I gave it to a friend):
Then, I bought a Ford Capri mk1 2300cc V6 (in a junk-yard too):
then, another (1700cc V4 to keep the body :
then, another one (2600cc V6):
My Capri's project for the 2600cc:
Then Ibought a Renault Fuego turbo (supercharged):
A "junk-yarder"offered me an Autobianchi A112 Abarth:
A friend give me a Ford Vedette Pick-up:
Then, I bought another Ford Vedette:
In March, 2008 (if I have good memory), I just sold my 318tds (BMW) and I didn't want to have anymore recent car. Therefore I decided to buy a "Toy" because I liked the "TA28" very well. One week after my research I had my TA28. Since, it's my daily-car... I love it !!! "My Toyota is Fantastic...
Then, a guy give me a TA23 that was hurted many years ago and that he had "tuned" (I call it "the Interceptor") :
Then, an importer give me a Corona mark2 (it was in his "garden" , behind the trees for 10 years and didn't ove from this place):
Family picts:
And, to finish, I exchange a Nissan "Vanette" (like the lite Hiace of Toy) for a Celica Supra Mk2 (2800cc injection):
I was riding a Ducati Monster too (900cc):
And this are y Hobbies (I' the one who put the roof off... )
This one is my sister's car... (was):

Re: French TA28 owner (oenotlob)
There are some but not enormous.
There are a few owner's that are on http://www.celica.fr but we don't know exactly how many 1st gen are alive in French territory.
There are TA22, TA23, TA28 and RA28.
We don't have your RA29 or RA27.
The biggest engine in Europe is de 18RG (2000cc, 110hp) that is only on the RA28.
