Another Aussie RA28

Post by Bazooka »

I would like to introduce my latest asset, a 1977 RA28 Liftback Celica.
This arrived home yesterday and is the first of two vehicles I have just purchased. I plan to build one vehicle from both.
Not sure on the full plans yet but a more modern engine will be the first thing on the cards.

The second RA28 is due for arrival next week :D
I have found power steering for it in the way of rack and pinion setup from an AE86.
I'm on the hunt for a Hilux rear end and crown front hubs for strength, a 5 stud conversion and bigger brakes.

I'm sure I can make up something good from both of these :D
Not sure which way I will go with the engine yet but the two choices I have are either the 1UZFE or the 3SGE BEAMS

I have seen some turbo 3RZFE enignes putting out some rediculous power but I would like to keep it all N/A
Would love to do something like this;

I already have the individual throttle body adapter for the 4AGE 20V throttles as above.
But twice as many would be twice the fun

I dont have any of the silver one right now but it's not much different except the centre console has been removed.
The blue one has factory A/C and as there has been an aftermarket head unit fitted they chopped the A/C switch in the dash to make this fit. I am on the lookout for another of these switches if anyone has one.

First thing is to strip the car down to nothing so i'll need more than just a vacuum cleaner :)

This is fun! I did this to my car earlier this month. biggrin

Before you start, go to your local everything store and buy a bunch of ziploc bags. You'll want lots of tiny ones, one box quart size, one box of gallon size and one box of the 2 gallon size. Buy a couple of new sharpie markers. Buy 10 plastic bins, big enough to put a rolled up sleeping bag inside.

Label everything you take off of the car and where ever possible, screw the nuts and bolts back onto the little bits you take them off of, like on your window regulators. This will make life much easier for you during reassembly. Being organized is better than being fast.

Good luck! You'll thank me!

Oh yeah I know to keep everything neat and labled when it's coming apart. Nothing worse than not knowing how it all goes back together or scratching your head over those left over parts.
