hey everyone i just got my first car (1976 celica gt) and need some help.. the guy i bought it from had it sitting for about 4 years and said it probably wouldnt work so i did the basic tune up and got it back up and running and right now im replacing old hoses and gaskets.im not worried about the engine or things like that because once school starts i am gonna take automotive performance classes and i can fix my car there if i have any problems but @ the moment it is running strong, my only problems are RUST!! the car is very rusted from the bottom (chasis, axles..) the rust is pretty bad, the other day i put the jack under it to change the tires and part of the chasis where i put the jack got crushed, im not sure what to do about this, can i just put new beams to reinforce everything or should i just replace the whole floor panel? if so where could i get a new one? and also where would be the best place to get new fenders for my car? any help on these things would be great and very much appreciated!! THANKS!!

Sounds like your celica got a major cancer, kinda matters where you get a project from... for instance, most Arizona cars are less prone to having major rust issue than some part of Oregon and Washington. Post a pic of your celica too...

yep you are the youngest now i used to be that but i guess hte more the merrier. Ask as many questions as u want trust me we will be glad to answer them. A few words of advice getting into it since i was in ur shoes these last 2 years i also got my celica when i turned 16 now im 18. Have patience with the car it can be a pain in the azz to figure what needs to be fixed sometimes also finding some parts can be very hard. We are a celica family though evrybody knows evryone else that is mostly a good thing. Ull fit right in.

hahah your story sounds almost exactly like mine.
i was 16 when i got my 77st(now 17), my first car also. the lady had it sitting for awhile. did some small work on it and got it running to my house haha. and imtaking automotive class next school year so im waiting for that too anddd i also have some pretty bad rust problems underneath the car too.
i think its pretty funny coincidence hahaha
