Hello from the Middle East

Post by TA28Dutch »

Hello fellow 1stgen lovers.

Been active on the forum a couple of months now, and it's time for a formal introduction.
I'm Rob from Holland, married to Rose from Brazil, and currently stationed in Oman. Own a TA28 back home, which regrettably sees not too much action, as it is only driven during my home leave. It's my second, as I had one other in 1978. Traded that one in for a new TE71GT in 1980, which I drove for another 7 years.
The current one I bought in Germany last summer, and it is in pretty good condition, see pic. It has GT badges, but these are probably not original, as it has a 2T-B.
Whenever I will have time I will swap it for a 2T-G. Scored three(!) of them in Belgium, and will rebuild one for the car.

Lately my mind is bit like my internet browser; too many open tabs, some are frozen,
and I have no idea where the music is coming from.....

Fully agree. Can't beat it for bang for bucks.
The TE71GT I had in the early 80's had one, and it handled great. Had some issues with freezing carbs during humid winter days, though. But loved it to bits. :shades:

I love the carbs for its sounds but maintenance isn't kickin... That's why go EFI 2tg if you can. I had a te27 once and I swapped a 2tg in it, its sure was a fun drive train.... Lots of respect from true toyota enthusiast with old DOHC toyota motors.
