71 Celica restoration

Post by MC1Auto »

I wanted to do a complete restoration on my 71 celica so i started checking out the prices on a car rotisserie .
WOW!!! cheapest I found was 1300.00. So I started pricing out the material to build one, I have a welder ad the time so why not..
the metal would cost around 550.00 plus ii would need to buy wheels, hyd. lift cylinder etc.
This is my solution , I spotted a habor freight flyer in a hotrod mag which had an engine hoist on sale for 99.00.
I measured the material the hoist had and decided to purchase 2 of them. I stopped by the metal shop and purchased some 4" / 1/4 flat plate metal and
4" id round tubing and other piece of tubing that would fit secure inside and still rotate. if I can figure out how to post the pictures they will be able to tell the tale better than I.http://s1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii588/MC1Auto/

Hi,

The pics attachment steps are in the intro. Take your time and read through. Funny I spent like 30mins before I got the hang of it. Send those pics. You're right. They do tell the tale better.

Cheers Man.

As you cab see she needs some work. The engine bay has been sandblasted and painted , and now that is mounted on the rotisserie I can knock out the bottom side "Repair the small bits of rust ETC."
