Hello everyone, I the proud new owner of a 1977 RA24 Celica I traded a gorgeous Mercedes 560sec for the Celica and a few people have said I was crazy but I just fell in love with the Celica. I have started slowing fixing things that the previous owner did to the car that annoyed me. I started with replacing the stock spring which had been cut with some Kings Springs lowering spring. Here are a couple pics of her when I picked her up. I included a pic of the Benz because maybe I was crazy to trade it but I doubt anyone here would say so
I forgot to add that I am seriously contemplating doing a Beams swap on her after I get rid of the wheels that are on it and stop driving it every day.
I ordered up a set of Konig rewinds for my celica last night can't wait to see what they look like on the car. FYI discount tire direct is running a 100 off of 400 or more on ebay. I was able to get the rims for 360 shipped after the discount.
I don't know anything about the value of the Mercedes you traded, that would determine if I think you're crazy or not. If you could have sold the Merc then bought the Celica for significantly less, then you're crazy. If they are roughly equal value, then good decision.
Skeptic, he was asking 5500 for the Celica and I had about 4200 in the Benz. If I found the right buyer I probably could have gotten about 5000 to 5500 for the Benz. It's rare to find a 1st gen for sale around here, the Mercedes are rare but easier to find.

If the interior is anywhere near as nice as the exterior looks then I'd say you got a fair or even good deal. It looks very clean and nice. The distributor looks a bit funky, but with that (I'm assuming points were replaced with electronic ignition) and what appears to be a weber carb the two main finicky/trouble areas for the engine have been addressed.

I was kind of shocked when I saw that the car sat on Craigslist for as long as it did. She isn't perfect but I have seen a whole lot worse.
