New guy from PA
Hello friends.
My name is Artur. A few weeks ago I picked up a 1977 Liftback. I'm coming from the Supra world and you'll see one of my MKIV's in one of the pictures.
I've been searching for one of these cars for probably going on 4 years now. Then Just happen to be at the right place at the right time.
I went to a local swap meet to look for parts for my 1950 Chevy pickup that I'm rebuilding. Showed up a little late so got a chance to drive all the way in instead of parking.
My buddy who was with me pointed at a "Mustang" but then corrected himself saying "Wait... Umm no it's not"
None the less, drove up the car and started talking with the owner.
A few hours later I was driving back from the guys shop with the Celica's title in my name.
It has 2 rust holes one of them being on the drivers side door bottom corner and in the trunk where the weather stripping is right above the tail lights. Other than that, there are a few area's where the paint has come off and has some surface rust there, but that's about it.
Anyway, onto some pictures:
77500 original miles
Everything works in the car.
Aside from a leaky original water pump, radiator, and vacuum lines, the car drove pretty well.
Since then, a Weber has replaced the tired old carb and vacuum lines, new water pump, new radiator and all new hoses under the hood.
Just have to find a coolant/washer tank and some other things for the interior.
Plans for the car?
Well drive it the way it is for this year. Spring and summer are coming and I want to use it.
For next year, sand blast the whole body and fresh paint. Removing and welding up anything that I don't like/want.
Motor wise, I'm not sure. Either going to boost the 20R, buy an s2000 F2x, or use the 2JZ/Getrag combo I have laying around.
Body wise, I'm going to either find real JDM bumpers, buy fiberglass ones or make something custom with factory ones. Either way, these US bumpers need to go! If I can find the banana lights for a reasonable cost, I'll buy them too.
All in due time.

Re: New guy from PA
Actually no.
It was originally sold in Florida but in 87, it was brought up to PA.
Not driven much after that.

Re: New guy from PA
Thanks you sir.
By the way, plans have changed.
I'm going to obviously lower the car and "throw in" a 1UZ with a tubular subframe, power steering rack, world class t5, and a Ford 8.8.
Should be a fun little car when done.

LOL, A "fun little car" ? I'd be more inclined to call it a "tire frying hellraiser" in that configuration.

Welcome! We're in Philly. Where in PA are you?
Re: New guy from PA
that is a GEM in Philly. Well taken care of. Congrats and nice find
Re: New guy from PA
I'm about an hours drive from Philly - north west in Reading.
I have been driving it around a lot lately and loving it. Just wishing that it had more power and torque.
Bought an LS400 on Copart on Friday. Going to pick it up tomorrow. 284,000 miles... That being said, I'll tear the motor down to replace piston rings, bearings and stock hardware.
Going to be using a Mustang T5 tranny that I also just picked up and getting the case powder coated.
