Re: New member - Need help
Mike, I'm not too worried about the A/C for now, I just wanted to see if it would work. I did notice the rpm drop when I pushed the A/C button so it may just be empty on the refrigerant. I'll take you up on the conversion info later as the backfiring issues came back and need address that first. I f...

Re: New member - Need help
Hello, sounds like it's coming along. Having an exhaust leak will cause a back-fire (sometimes) because it allows extra air to be sucked up into system, making it lean. Also a lean idle mixture can cause the same thing. When you say "back-fire" do you mean in the exhaust system, or in the...

Re: New member - Need help
Hi, the timing was done a couple of weeks ago and i set it to what the manual calls for; 8. I played around with the carburetor before i read your post so I already "tuned" it a little and I've also replaced the blown muffler. I bought a used 20r engine for $50 bucks and stole the exhaust ...

Re: New member - Need help
I've done it right this time: 148, 151, 150, and 149. I'm glad to see she wont need a new motor anytime soon. So, my next step is to tune the carburetor (32/36 weber) with a vacuum gage that's gonna arrive tomorrow. Like measuring the compression, this will be my first time trying to tune a carburet...

Re: New member - Need help
Hello, the engine won't run with the numbers you have. I'm with Neil on finding another compression tester. If it is a 2xx, the numbers will be around 120 psi (and average guess).More importantly, above 90, and close to the same. Remember to have the ignition dis-abled, throttle wide open, and good...

Re: New member - Need help
Fixed the plug issue and the backfiring is basically gone, I did get a couple of bangs but timing it right helped a tone. The compression test readings still worries me.

Re: New member - Need help
OK, finally was able to do a little work on the LB. I tried to solve the backfiring issue by timing the car right (which was way off) but I never got to see if that fixed it because of another issue that came up. After setting the timing right i went ahead and measured the compression on the engine ...

Re: New member - Need help
Thanks for clarifying Mike. Well, after I bought the car I went on a short vacation and just returned. I wanted to get back and work on it but after the trip and buying the car I'm now pretty much broke (it was all worth it though). My first goal is to get this thing running smooth before i start in...
