TA22GT one of 8 roadworthy uk survivors.
I bought this car in 1993 and it is one of the original 300 twin cam (2t-g ) cars imported into the uk, only about 25 survive and this cars is now one of 8 roadworthy ones , and they were produced in only bronze and white. When bought it had minor accident damage to the front which i had repaired 20...

Re: E-type owner looking for a Gen 1 Liftback
A Gt is the right vehicle to Buy , however caution over the 18r-g twin cam engine is necessary. Life span of the original engine is likely to be 100000, before major rebuild. However when the engine is likely to need replacement , in the past many people swapped it for a replacement API engine. Thes...

Re: E-type owner looking for a Gen 1 Liftback
HI trev, Will keep my eyes peeled and let me know, maybe a contact number for you would help, you can pm me that. A number of the UK 28gts had optional extras, and I have seen a number of cars with these fitted namely air con and a factory standard cassette radio , mine didn't have either , but the ...

Re: E-type owner looking for a Gen 1 Liftback
Hi trev - The spec of Uk cars was that the UK gt had a twin cam 18r-g engine with close ratio gearbox and standard LSD. The other LSD fitted to UK cars was the ta22gt and TA23gt , but only 200 of the first and 100 of the second imported. The Ra28 gt had vinyl trim seats , not cloth, silver dash and ...

Re: E-type owner looking for a Gen 1 Liftback
Hi Trev Probably a fair price in view of the mileage , however the issue is its an ST , would need an upgrade to 18r-g , these engines are making £1000 an d then you have got to change it, Also over the gt the St has no close ratio gearbox, or limited slip diff , inferior interior and reduced specif...

Re: E-type owner looking for a Gen 1 Liftback
Hi trev Expect to pay £15k for a decent uk 28 lift back if you can find one. Must be gt with 18r-g twin cam engine as the st is underpowered and won't run on unleaded. You will have a search on as values are rising rapidly and the supply of decent uk cars is very limited. Might be sensible to import...

Hi I have rejoined and thought it was a good time to share my cars. My celica history goes back along way having owned a white 1973 TA22 st and a bronze 1975 TA22gt back in the 1970, now sadly long gone . But 24 years ago I bought another Ta22gt in bronze which i still have and then a year or so lat...
