Re: New member: Michigan FR-S/+ To be Celica

I prefer liftbacks myself, but the '77 coupe looks to have the best body and would have the larger engine compartment, plus it has louvers and the GT emblem is still there in the grille. Black seems to hide a lot in pictures so it could be deceiving. If you have to replace basically everything on th...

Re: Just got a 77 celica LB but somethings not the same?

Not very hard, there's always a few people parting out a car on the for sale board here. I wonder where the seats come from as well.

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

Is the flat black paint covering up shoddy body work? Those missing vents can be difficult to find since they become so brittle. The 4 speed in the red one can easily be replaced with a 5 speed from numerous sources, not too hard to find a cheap tranny to stick in there.

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

That one looks like it's in fantastic shape. The liftback in your earlier post, I could see being in the 3500-4000 range. For the non running one, 1500 max, but location determines prices

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

I'm not sure how the vinyl roof's trim is held in place, I don't think it was like that from factory? The Liftback looks very nice. Without a baseline price to negotiate from, who knows what he considers low ball

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

Probably the worst spot for rust I've seen in people's builds has been under the wiper cowl, other than that the rest is typical areas to look for. My build is going to involve motorcycle carbs. I still haven't built my manifold yet because I seem to be moving every 6 months lately and haven't settl...

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

That one really doesn't seem that bad. Look around at some of the threads bringing these cars back from the dead and you'll understand. Incidentally, I had an '87 CRX as well and it was one of my favorite cars. Not very fast at all but the very short wheelbase made it fun.

Re: Hopefully a soon to be new owner of a Gen 1 Celica

If you want to build one from ground up, keep an eye out and you'll see some much lower than that. I got mine for $200, needs one of everything but like you said, thats the fun part.

Re: New Guy from NH, With a Ra24 Ex Rally car!

The car has some neat history. Are you going to restore it as the rally car or a clean slate?

Welcome. I've had mine almost a year and I've only refinished the headlight buckets and ordered loads of parts, indeed they take time!

Re: new celica owner

Welcome aboard, lots of parts available new and used, take a look in the classifieds. Off the top of my head there's toysport (groupb on here), toyheadauto, and of course ebay. LOTS of used parts, Santos is a big contributor of those. If you edit your profile with your location, and your signature w...

Re: TEXAS RA29

Welcome to the screwed up roof club, my car was rolled decades ago and was pretty much re sculpted with bondo, which is currently all falling out. My solution is the purchase of a cut off roof from a parts car. Lots of work, but I see it as the best option.

Re: New member in NJ

beautiful. I've always been a Toyota guy too. My first car was a 1988 Tercel 2 door sedan, my first project was a 1984 Tercel 4wd with a 3A/4A hybrid, had a '96 Camry for a while, now I have a '77 Celica GT and I'm picking up an '87 supercharged MR2 in the new year. Love my Toyotas, especially that ...
