Hi all,
well as the subject suggests this is a first effort and journey for both myself and my son.
2 n half years ago we decided to start a project. a 75 LT ta22.
kept it stock due to my son receiving this as a first car
New paint n all new from the ground up new trims seals seats linings rebuilt motor carby brake n clutch system n t50 gearbox.
Didn't leave much to chance.
hence more than a little when it failed on roadworthy due to indicators not retracting to off after completing a turn
I thought this was standard for celica's first generation
As for the mechanic he had N/F/I n couldn't find out for me.
So could anyone help with my question
Hope to post a picture soon
LJ (my boys initials)
madas (have to b to take on this journey)
Cheers
the journey
Re: the journey
as far as I know ALL celicas had self cancelling indicators. Search the junk/salvage/breakers yards etc for replacement. Likely other models will use the same unit so pull yours and take it with you for reference. Take your son as well for the "grunt work"

Re: the journey
On the blinkers cancelling, there is a white collar around the steering column that is supposed to engage with the back of the steering wheel. Mine are always old and crappy and don't pop out like they are supposed to. I always have to take a knife blade or something small and stick it in there to pry it out. Then wiggle the steering wheel until the pins engage then you should be good to go!

Re: the journey
Hey guys
Thanks for the info.
Nate as soon as i read your post the penny dropped
The previous owner had stuck an old corolla wheel which had no pins to retract the ignition switch.
I have an original wheel from when i purchased the car.
So bingo on she went
Pictures will show the old wheel which i ripped out ten minutes later.
Told you i was a newby to this
My next problem is finding a pair of gear box cross member mounts
Here in Oz no spare parts mob have a listing. Apparently they don't make genuine.
And finding a wreck is extremely difficult if you live 1,000 Km 600 miles from the nearest major city.
Cheers Guys and Nate thanks again for the info.
Hope you like the pic's
